Reefmaster Mini FL Keys Pics

Here are some shots I thought I'd share with you all of some pics I've taken with my Reefmaser Mini. I have not touched up any of these pics. Let me know what you think.

They are nice, and make me wish I had the chance to go to the Keys when I was recently down in Florida.

If you ask me, a little bit of fixing up the images in Photoshop would do you wonders. The first picture has decent color but the last 3 all just look bland, which is a common issue when shooting underwater. Just a little bit of touching up and compensating for the blue hue you get when you shoot underwater would be great. I hope you dont mind, I spent 10 seconds working on one of your shots.

One problem that many people have is ending up with pictures of the south end of a north-swimming fish(grin). Chasing after a fish to try to get a shot won't help. Sometimes holding still and waiting will cause some fish to return out of curiosity (but not parrotfish). In the old days, we would smash up an urchin to bring fish in - not very P.C. now days. Territorial fish can often be captured in a great pose if you flick your fingers at them - if you do it just right, they'll dart away a bit, but then at the last moment, they'll turn back and look at you with fins spread - capturing them broadside. Make too much of a ruckus and they'll hole up of course.

Thanks for the pointers jhemdal. I understand what your saying about patience. I also am a believer in taking shots that aren't posed. I think the first pic is a perfect example. I do have shots of this same fish posed which in my opinion pale in comparison to this shot of the parrot fish swimming through its natural environment.

Excelent detail on those photos. Is like diving in Puerto Rico where I live. I love gorgonians moving in the currents!

thanks guys. hard to believe this camera was only 200.00 with a depth rating to 130ft. heres a few more. These ones I've made a little adjustments to clean up on photoshop.

nice pictures scuba guy. Out of curiosity, when were these photos taken, and what keys? Last person i talked to down in the keys said the water was turned up pretty good and visibility was low... however if you went recently, it sure looks like its pretty decent.

Nice pics. It is nice to see wildlife in their natural habitat acting the way they normally do. Waiting hours/days to get the perfect shot is well worth the time. Just like watching the life series on the discovery channel. It is the best way to see wildlife... in the wild.

these were taken 8/8/09 at and around Looe Key reef by Big Pine Key. I've heard that the reefs in the keys were pretty devistated by the cold fronts this winter with some areas experiencing up to 90% die off.
