reefsafe fish the eats caulerpa?

75 gallon. Yellow tang, blue hippo tang, and blue chromis are the only fish so far. All fish are medium in size. I'm looking for a fish the is colorful, not aggressive, and maybe 4 to 6" that will help eat caulerpa because my tangs are not keeping up in a mixed reef. I don't really want a lawnmower blenny because they lack color and will probably eat my microstars, etc. I've considered a foxface lo but they may nip at corals and I don't want to risk it. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can find one of those. Probably have to take all the rock out and "cleanse it" or replace it. Very hard to remove caulerpa.

a vlamingi would be nice, but they get too large. I have a lot of sps and have concern that a rabbitfish may nip, especially if I go on vacation for a few days and they get hungry. Any other suggestions?

Leaning towards a foxface lo. I'm starting to cut back on zoas anyway as I hear they are somewhat toxic towards other corals. Anthony Calfo suggested that other corals in the same area as zoas may lose some color. Websites such as live aquaria suggest they may pick or eat some coral. Has anyone specifically had trouble with a foxface eating or picking at certain corals, namely sps?

My one spot foxface has never bothered sps or the few lps I have and it loves caulerpa and any other macro algae.
I have had 3 over the years and they were all good fish and all loved caulerpa.

sorry if I hijack your post ambergris caye but Im interested in learning more about this onespot foxface....is that different from your average foxface do you have a link or pic?

Has anyone had a powder blue tang eating razor caulerpa?

I doubt you're going to like what happens if you try to add a pbt to your 75 gallon tank that already has 2 tangs in it. I would try manual removal...although I really don't understand why your current fish don't eat it. I used to grow grape calurpa in my refugium and feed it to my tangs...and they ALL ate it.

rabbitfish is the way to go - look into a scribbled though - check out the differences in their mouths, the standard rabbit is more of a nibbler wheras the scribbled will scrape the rocks. It does get bigger but it is nonagressive so a fairly easy fish to find a tank for :)

Edit: Also, if you are at your wits end with calurpa a longsipne (diadema) urchin will mow it down. Again, they get big and knock stuff over but anyone with an algae problem in your area will take it off your hands
