First build thread...

Last tank was a 280 gallon starfire AGE tank

Just sold it this weekend. moving to a 2 sided viewable 345 gallon tank.

Dimensions- 66 inches by 48 deep by 26 inches high. PVC Bottom. Acrylic eurobracing. Steel stand.

Some history

started with a 34 hex, upgraded to a 36 corner, upgraded to an 80 gallon, then 90 gallon then a 135 gallon

(more of a live rock holding tank with fish and coral :) )

Then quit my job, started my own company out of my house and really wanted an in wall tank in the office so out with old tank in with new.

here is sketch-up of the new tank:

The 66 inch side will be the back wall to my office. The 48 inch viewable side will be the hallway to the office. The back area is going to be my fish room (yay for fish rooms!!!)

I have 350 lbs of Marco Rock right now:

Sounds like a great plan. There is one problem though, its going be hard to get any work done in your office because you'll be staring at the tank all day. Just kidding. I'll be following along.

Some of the old equipment that will be reused in the new setup

I got the 7 feet tank on Craigslist for $100!

It is 14 inches tall and 16 inches deep with two built in overflows.

Zooid,

You know it! I am going to stock the frag tank with several of your black and whites!

can't wait to see this up and going was really thinking about snatchin up your 280 before you sold it. i plan on going to a 500 when i go back home to tx. everyone says don't do it thats too much but i say go with what makes you happy and happy in the long term as well..

So I have to finalize tank dimensions tomorrow...the only thought would be to add 2 inches to the height to go 28 inches. That would bring tank to 385 gallons....any pros/cons to the additional height?

Thanks Chris. Looks like the extra 2 inches will push me to 3/4 glass which is more $$$ and more time so back to original dimensions.

That was going to be my concern... 1/2" vs. 3/4" on starphire is $$$... so 26" is the max to go with 1/2" glass I'm guessing (otherwise go 27") :)?

Frag/holding tank is up and running
