Refinishing the Kitchen

We are going to be doing some work in the kitchen which is very close to the tank. We are going to use liquid sand on the cabinets and also some regular sanding. I really have no way to close off the kitchen from the living room where the tank is. What do you guys suggest?

turn off any hot lighting and cover the whole tank with plastic, find an outside air source for the tank/skimmer, run extra carbon
