Refractometer Question

(I'd normally email this, but Luke's going to think I'm a PITA if he gets another email from me. I had a mis-ship in my order, which he helped me out with. Hopefully you'll tell me this isn't a problem and I'll avoid having to make a second email. I'd hate to be thought of as overly-demanding.)

I bought a premium blue refractometer the other day. Just cracked it open today and noticed that the plastic "daylight plate" has a few airbubbles in the plastic - one if which is dead center over the opening of the prism. The instructions say to make sure that there are no air bubbles in the water sample when I measure, so I'm concerned that a bubble in the plastic of the daylight plate will have the same effect.

Any ideas? If this is a problem, can I get a new plastic plate to install?

Thanks

Hi,

The bubbles inside the plastic wouldn't effect the scale reading, but if they are making it hard for you to see the scale, then I would say we should exchange it, but if it's not effecting that, it would be fine.

The trapped air bubbles warning is for the water because it has to spread completely out over the lens to get an accurate reading.
