I posted this in the Reef Discussion but didn't any real answers. I was just wondering if anyone has or has seen the premium aquatics refractometer that is a reefcentral.com special(or was) and how it is in comparison to the " Premium Blue Model"
reefcentral.com special refractomer, cant find link to it but here it is reg. price

"Premium Blue Model"

If the links dont work go here(just for "Premium Blue Model" called " Marine Depot Refractometer")

If anyone has one of these or any experience that would greatly be appreciated. I want to get my Order our as soon as possible.

P.S. Does anyone know where to get around a five-fifteen gallon container(not a bucket) that is closed and has a spout to keep RO water in that would also be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Henry 22 I purchased 2 refractometers. One from Foster's and Smith at the $40 price range...and one from to fishy.com. I kept one and gave the other to a friend. You could flip a coin over which one is better...and still be a winner either way. It took me a long time to finally purchase a refratometer...I'm sure glad I finally did.

as long as your can easily make adjustments (ie: w/o a screwdriver) i'd say its a toss-up. As long as you take care of a refractometer (dry it off with a clean soft cloth, always put it back in the case, and i keep a silica gel pack in the case with it to prevent any moisture build-up) you will be good to go.

Both of the ones I mentioned above can use a screw driver to calibrate and the blue one comes with one, Is that bad?

I have the one from toofishy.com it's amazing, although I think they stoppped the amazing deal they had on them.

off topic, but I added 3 hermits because Im having a hair algae problem and my nassarius, and cerith dont eat it. I think i added them tuesday, and it appears they havnt eaten any. Would adding a turbo help at all. I dont really want to add one because they get really big and knock stuff around, what should I do? Would cleaning the rock with a toothbrush help.

Crabs in general should be avoinded as they are opprtunistic omnivores and will prey upon your snails as well...some are reputed to have better temperments than others but in general snails are your best best. I personally think Astrea snails and Ceriths would be your best bet. If you PROMISE to remove a Conch when it gets to big you can get one of them, they will clean your rock in under a week, but they get big and are needed to be tranferered/traded later.

hope this helped

Thanks, I dont know, these three hermits are pretty lazy, alot more than my last bunch, they just kinda sit there during the day, and the ceriths dont touch the hair algae. I had a astrea hitchhiker that was big but he died when he fell and the LFS i usually go to doesnt have them, weird thing is is that the rock he came on came from them?
Thanks anyways
