Refreezing frozen

I think I know the answer, but want to see what everyone else thinks.

If a package of PE Mysis were left on the counter for 4 hours and allowed to thaw, is it still usable? I've done this twice now with an almost new big bag of PE Mysis... Is it best to just throw it out?

I refreeze mine, after all it's fish food...They'll eat poop from other fish, so I think it'll be fine.

I would refreeze it...only throw it out if it gets hot.

refreeze is fine as long as it has not gone bad.

I thaw and wash all my frozen food with ro/di mix whats types of foods I want then re-bag then refreeze without issuses

oh god...this brings back memories, horrible ones. i did this same thing. left a whole bag of frozen mysis on top of my tank one night, forgot about it, the next morning i had sworn something had died. i had NO CLUE what it was. thought i was gonna have to get a mask on or something. so, my answer would be, as long as it doesn't smell, and you'll know THE SMELL, then keep it!

I was just concerned about Vibrio. I've read several articles from years past about there being higher levels of Vibrio present in common US brand frozen foods.

The first bag was still cool when I found it. The second was cool, but not as much as so as the first. Both happened when I grabbed a big pinch to feed the seahorses and decided to hit the 280 and 130 before heading to work. I sometimes leave the bag out, expecting to go for more before I finish with all the tanks. Always running behind for work...

oh god...this brings back memories, horrible ones.

I did the same except the frozen mysis was left in my car. Luckily it was not open, but I could smell a faint odor the next day. It did not occur to me at that point that I left the package in the side pocket of my car door. The smell got worse the next day. I was beginning to think my dachshund did something under the seat before I finally located the source of offensive odor. Poor Henry gets blamed for everything 'cause he always looks so guilty when something happens.

but still, both pretty foul nonetheless
