Quite awhile back I went to snails only because I had smaller ones and were getting attacked by hermits. Now that they are bigger, I want more diversity in my cleaning crew. Currently I have turbos, Astrea, Narsarus (can't spell them and too lazy to look up). Seem to be working good, but want that little extra to pick up the slack

So with (mixed reef), SPS, LPS, Anenome, and Clams: no hermits at all just large snails, or just reds and zebras, but no blues? And which crabs if any. Myhrax, decorator, etc? Been a long time since I thought about this, please remind me.

Few creatures that have claws are reef safe so that rules out most crabs. I have had good luck with the small red-tipped hermits. They don't get the big claw like the black and white ones get and have never bothered my corals. Cerith and Nasarius snails will eat detritus if that is what you need to clean up. Astreas are good for algae control but if you overstock they run out of food and starve if you don't supplement with some nori. Check out the reef tune up kit or specials at ispf.com, lots of info there too.

Hello guys!

Sorry for the intrusion, but what is "ispf.com" MandM? I couldn't find it on the net.

Thanks guys!

Sorry, fingers moving faster than the brain. It's IPSF, Indo Pacific Sea Farms. I've ordered from them a few times and have always been happy with them.

I have ceriths, margaritas, doves, turbos and astraeas, plus a fighting conch, who takes care of the sand bed. I have scarlet and blue-leg hermits---one of the bluelegs in particular is fond of picking up, say, a dove snail, going over it like eating an ear of corn, but basically cleaning it off and setting it unharmed back onto the sand. He's not particularly popular with the snails, but the tiny bluelegs don't seem to hurt them and the scarlets don't seem to be interested in them at all.
