Hello All,
Its been a while(5 years) since I broke down and sold my last reef tank and I just wanted to make sure I am remembering things correctly. I just bought another 125 gallon with 50 gallon sump/fuge and it came with 200lb plus dry rock. Apparently the Dr. I bought it from didn't think to keep the rock alive so he put it outside on his property.
I am fortunate enough to have a source for filtered salt water (at no cost) so as I remember I just add the dry rock (going to seed with some live) water, ammonia source and start the circulation pumps until spike and then normal readings correct?
As I do this should I run my skimmer and fuge or just keep the water in the display until cycle? Also when seeding the dry rock during the cycle should I turn on my lights? I am not worried about calcium for rocks because I am able to do as many water changes as needed for the cycle.
Thanks in advance,
Joe
