You should have whatever method you want to use in order to keep nitrates and phosphates down. I have a fuge, and reactors and my phosphates are at .039 and nitrates are zero.
My fuge just has some extra LR that did not fit the the display and chaeto and mangroves.
I personally think that, having a fuge is very beneficial to a anemone tank. Like arntspowell have already mention, it will help keep nitrates and phosphates down.

i think it is great to i have figes in all my tanks but give it some time to get all mature b4 you get the nem dont rush it.fuges help with zoo and phyto in youre tank wich makes it more natural and you re nen and corals can feed a little naturaly that way so it can never hurt.
when i was raising bubble tips back in the day my fuge was bigger then the dt.... they thrived went from 4 to about 40 in less then two years.. i had a deep sand bed lots of snails, macro of all kinds 100 of brislte worms and i would go around to every fish store and scoop the stuff out of the bottom of there uncured live rock tanks.. in my opinion as long as you got enough life in there how can you go wrong.. also my refuge was above my anemone tank.. and the overflow went directly into that tank then another overflow ran into a sump with a small skimmer that way there were no power head to eat the little guys up after they split and the microscopic stuff entered the dt alive.... it work really well
