Refugium in nano cube

I was wondering how effective a refugium would be in the middle chamber of a 24 gallon nano cube? I was thinking of putting some rubble rock and chaeto in the middle chamber and then cutting away the black acrylic on the back and shining a light into the middle chamber. Is this worth while or not worth the hassle? I also plan on using chemipure and a polyfilter pad and doing water changes every week to two weeks.

When i did this setup on my 24 gallon nano cube my nitrates went from 20 to 0, so I think it was worth the trouble for me. I also have had a pod grow explosion.
