Refugium on hardwood floor

I am in the middle of cycling a 145 gallon tank, which has a 40 gallon fuge. I don't have a ton of vertical space to play with in the cabinet and I am wondering what would be the best idea for protecting the hardwood floor from the fuge.

Would sitting it on a piece of foam do the trick? Or should I somehow build a short stand for the fuge?

Thanks!

I wouldn't use foam as water will slide under the foam agains the hardwood and stay there potentially resulting in mold/mildew issues.

Just a piece of plywood raised off the hardwood so there is airflow on your floor will suffice. Use poly, spar, or paint to seal it.

What does your stand look like?

It's a solid oak cabinet, with a 50" x 30" foot print. The back is open, I will cover some of it though to keep the noise down but still allow enough for air to circulate in the cabinet.

I usually add a removable drip tray to my stands, basically ply that has a slightly taller edge trim around perimeter, 1x usually, and then I coat heavy in minwax polyeurethane, other options work but that stuff has served me well over many years.
You could do a similar tray.

I think I will do something like that. I think I will also put some 1x1s underneath it to lift it off the hardwood just in case water finds its way under.

Thanks!
