refugium problem

Hi guys, my refugium produces brown algae and i dont know how to get rid off it. i ran for 3months now. how can i make a succeful refugium? i currently cant afford to get a RODI system. thanks

I'm not a diagnostician, but I play one on TV. Start with getting over to Coral Reef Shop or other generous LFS that would supply you with pure water at little or no cost. Have you tested the Elk Grove water? I'd be interested in knowing what TDS, nitrate, phosphate numbers it registers.

since your in elkgrove, exotic is probably the nearest store. You can get up to 20 gallons free a day. I go once every week or so and fill up with about 20g.
