Refugium Questions

I'm re-doing my sump, and I think I want to add a refugium.

How big does it have to be for a 75gal? Is there a good article that will help me understand this. If it's too small, will it not be worth the effort?

I would try not to go under a 1/4-1/3 in tank size. As Blown346 said, the bigger the better. If it is possible to fit it, I think a 20 gallon or larger would do nicely.

OK, so if my sump is made out of a 20gal, but the fuge part is only 1/3-1/2 of it, it's going to be too small. I will be placing my skimmer in the sump so that takes up some room, and you need room for the return, so... not going to do much good. Right?

Mish, i'm in the same boat as you. What kind of skimmer are you using and how much room does it take up.

Well, I just got a EV-120, but my stand was custom built to fit a Tidepool 1 as a sump. So the problem is that the tidepool is too small for a skimmer, sump, pumps, and such. LFS convinced me I didn't need all that when they sold me the tidepool. Big mistake, I feel that I do need all that. So what I really want is a sump that is 30L x 18w x 13H. This does not exist, so I'm using a 20L and cutting the top of the tidepool off and attaching it to the 20L. This will give me room to put my skimmer in the sump, and maybe a fuge. Still doesn't give me more volume. If I only new then what I know now....
