Refugium reverse light cycle question.

I have my refuge with Cheato marco aglae with reverse light cycle of the main tank. Does the cheato still uptake PO2 and NO2 when the lights are on the off cycle?

Is there any theory/reason why you should run your refuge on an opposite light cycle as your display?

Plants/Corals release CO2 during the dark period. CO2 depresses/lowers PH. So by running the fuge lights on an opposite cycle from the display you even out CO2 release, and also even PH throughout the light cycle.
