Anybody have a system that has a refugium separate from the sump?
I'd like to install one but i'm not sure how it would be best installed.

I have a 180 with dual internal overflows.
Would it be possible to put a T on one of the overflow pipes with a ball valve(on the refugium side of the T) to divert some of the water from the tank to the sump? Or would this cause problems. The water would then go into the sump by gravity.

Or should i just use a seperate pump to get water from the tank (or sump)and flow into the sump by gravity.

If you have one already set up and have a picture of it. It would be great.
Thanks

That's what I did.

The valve on the downward leg controls the amount of flow into the fuge, (the horizontal valve just installed so I could isolate it). Since feeding directly from one of the drains and display BB, do get a little bit of detritus settling out but as part of my water change routine, I'll just siphon it out (fuge is BB also).

If to do it all over again, might use a gate valve rather than a ball valve (but issue on needing the fine control probably is more to do with the overflow on the fuge).
