Refugium size for mag 9.5

Hello,
I am setting up a 90 gal reef tank with overflow. I have a mag 9.5 pump which I had planned to put below, with a micron bag and carbon bag, and skimmer. At the LFS, it was suggested that if I used a larger tank below, i could also have a planted area.
1) What size tank should I use if I want to add a refugium? I had thought a 10 or 20.
2) The Mag 9.5 has 800+ gal of flow. Is that too much for a refugium?
3) Any good websire links so I can learn more?
