where is a good place to buy a refugium and GS-3 skimmer. i am looking for the site with the best prices. all help would be great. thanks clay

With this big tank build i have doing i have learned that you can get incredibly good deals on the buy/sell forum on RC. I picked up alot of great stuff from people taking their tanks down. The fuge i would try to find local though, probably expensive shipping.

Wow man, alot of money.....the first one comes with a no name skimmer and its expensive, the second is very expensive and doesnt even come with a skimmer. If you built your stand and canopy, you wouldnt have any problem building your own sump/fuge for a quarter of the price with a little bit of help from some of us on this forum. Tom is a master with acrillic, so if you have any q's I know he will help you with answers

yeah i can diy almost everything but i am ready to get this going already. so i am getting to the point where i want everything now you know what i mean

you know i will start making my refugium tomorrow thanks for making me think about it i will be hunting for a tank tomorrow

for your baffles you can get small peices of acrylic at tap plastics, and just use a 30-40 gal acrylic tank and put in your own baffles. If you have any questions feel free to ask

I'd check craigslist and BAR/Used Goods Seelling forums here. I have learned to buy used equipment whenever possible because it seems there is always someone getting out of the hobby that has what you're looking for.

On another note, spend the most you feel comfortable with because a skimmer is one of the most important peices of equipment. I'm sure sure others will agree that they have used at least one other skimmer than the one they are currently because they were cheap and bought something inadequate.

yeah i have looked in all those places with no luck. now i am just looking for a tank so i can build my own

i just ordered my tank form glasscages for my sump/refugium. it is a 45L 48 x 12 3/4 x 17. here is a standard pic

Clay,
i would recommend a Euro-reef skimmer they are worth every penny. When it comes to skimmers you get what you pay for. the euro-reef skimmers are really easy just plug and play.

I have a euro reef rs-80 and i love it. just make sure that you buy the skimmer for the biggest tank you think you will ever own. when i do the 210 i will need a bigger skimmer

I bet that rs-80 would do a pretty good job on a 210. but you are right, if you know you might up grade in the near future less than two years definately get something a little bigger

if it was up to me i would have a 500gal but not possible with being in the military. i was thinks about going with the G-3 skimmer. thanks for the input i am going to check out what the rs-80 looks like. thanks again clay
