first off, love your store. the service is great and i've ordered a ton of stuff from you. now, my problem. i want to build a DIY refugium for my 55g, but have some questions. what size would be the best? i was looking at either a 29g or a 12g eclipse. next, i want to put a protien skimmer in it, so do i need baffles? last is pump size, i was looking at your quiet one pumps, but i don't know whether to get the 2200(581 gph) or the 3000(780gph). the tank will be on the ground, about 4' to the top of the 55g. any suggestions would be much appreciated. :)

When adding a Refugium to your aquarium, the larger the Refugium the more it will benefit your system, as this acts as an extension to your existing aquarium. You will need a pump that will provide enough water flow though the system but not so much as to push the specimen and media out of the unit. We would recommend a baffle in the area where a protein skimmer is kept in order to keep the substrate in the Refugium. If we can be further assistance please contact our Technical Support Department at 1-800-334-3699 or via email at TechSupport@drsfostersmith.com and we will be happy to answer any question(s) you may have.
