Refugium

Hey, i just bought a 55gal tank, and i have a refugium...

Should i use it? and why?
When should i run its light?

In a nut shell ,you should use it, for nutrient export (by way of algea) and run the lights opposite your tank to help keep your ph from dipping at night.. hows that for short and sweet....
