Regal Tang harassing Maximas

Tek

Mr. Vu
My 5 inch Regal tang is picking up my 2" Maximas and dropping them, but leaves my 5" Derasa alone. Why is he doing this? He also picks up various snails and drops them around.

lol, some fish just decide to do certain things they are typically not know for. I have had a Naso tang pick certain corals to death. And the same Naso is 8" and is a complete bully to my 11" queen angel. It may just be the that fish's personality. Are you feeding him enough, and with enough variety?

This is actually a new fish to the tank. He is too shy to come out during feeding time and spends most of the time laying sideways in the rock work so he is definitely not eating enough. I will probably put him into a seperate tank and slowly get him use to aquarium food. I am sure it is just this one fish since my other Blue tangs were never a problem.

I also have a Majestic which eats zoas but leaves everything alone.

Sorry Tang policeman he is not in that tank. I haven't updated that sig since 2004.

Can you blame people for thinking your unchanged sig for 6 years was accurate? How am I to know what you have in your house aside from what information you share?

Blue hippos are very interesting fish for sure. Hippos are known to be ominivorious. My blue hippos are very odd. One of them will actually allow himself to get stuck to my korailia. He just there enjoying the massage and then jump on an then on again. Does it all the time.

I actually saw a past thread about a Blue picking up a guys frags and dropping them around the tank. Mine does the same with snail shells, but seems to really hate the small Maximas. I am going to sell him to someone with a FO tank and wait for my smaller Blue to get larger and introduce to the DT.

What is your feeding regime like? I find that many of the problems I have encounter with tangs go away by hanging some nori on the glass or binding some small pieces to rubble with rubber bands and dropping it in the tank. It taste good and allows them to graze. Might give that a shot before getting rid of it.

This is a new fish I have had for about a month now and fresh out of QT. I have placed nori on the glass and he does not touch it and is to shy to come out during feeding time. He comes out to pick on things and quickly dashes back into his rock hiding spots. I have seem him eat mysis at times, but not enough to fill him up. I will try the nori on rubble tonight.
