Regeneration?

I know this isn't an unknown malady but I thought I'd ask.

A Sailfin Tang which I had been keeping in a 90 had a major chunk of his dorsal fin eaten by a hermit. I moved him to the 450 and he's overjoyed by the new digs. I swear he's grown 3/4" in the last couple of months. He's eating well and is active but I see little change in the damaged fin.

Will it ever grow out?

While crustaceans and certain other inverts enjoy the power of regenerating lost or damaged limbs, etc., unfortunately I've never seen, heard, or read of it occurring with fish.

If it's just the flesh of the fin, it can sometimes heal. If the fins themselves were torn out, then it won't.
