Regional Club Frag Swap: Planning

Hmmmmm sounds tempting. About the only things I have ready right now are 2 leathers, some pink Capnelia and a 10 inch mat of Anthelia I could chop up (that I bet I couldnt even give away). I may have to pass on this one until my Zoo's grow out. I would like to meet everyone though since I am new!

Speaking frags, hell I don't really have a running tank right now. Shoot.

haha maybe we should go and sit in a corner drooling at all the fragged eye candy!

UPDATE:

This is just to answer some of the questions from either PMs or in the club forums.

In cases where members wished to participate but did not have frags to include in the swap, the sponsoring club would then charge a fee. This being a non-sponsored event, the ‘buy in’ would be inappropriate.

From past experience, I know most prefer that participants should contribute frags, but I realize there instances where you’re not able to, because of a tank crash, for example. Perhaps, if we could get more opinions on this, it would help me decide. We could either require the contribution of frags, or maybe have a ‘prepaid buy in’ that would allow me to put together some raffle prizes.

There were some inquiries about swap rules or outline. I don’t really want to delve too much into that yet until we determine whether or not this swap will take place. As of this evening, I’ve only received 4 paid lunches, which is far short of the 50 minimum we need. Again, the restaurant has given me until this Thursday (Sept. 28th) to submit the deposit for the banquet hall. If we’re not close to the minimum by Thursday, I’ll need to cancel or postpone the swap and send refunds to everyone that did pay.

The planning committee has been me, myself, and I (fortunately, I get along great with myself). If we do get to the point where we know this is going to happen, I’ll reach out to those that have expressed interest in helping me out (which I greatly appreciate).

This is ‘our’ swap. I want this to be a wonderful experience for the grizzled, battle-scared swapper and the new, never knew what hit ‘em newbie. Keep the ideas and suggestions coming.

Regards,

Karl

damn! its 2 hours away? (SF area) from me. I was hoping for the Dixon area.
Norm are you still interested in a car pool? Let me know.

Karl, maybe you should post a new thread to catch more people attention? Anway here is a bump.

I'm working on getting a sponsor today for the event. I'm concerned that the price of the lunch has turned some people away. It's kind of hard finding a venue large enough for a frag swap that's indoors, has food catering, and doesn't cost $1,500.

I'll post more info ASAP.

Regards,

Karl

PS: If the price does get lowered for the current venue, I will refund the difference. Thank again to all whom have already paid.

The price of lunch seems very fair. When we planned the BAR swap and had a vendor sell food, I am sure everyone who bought food spent round $10 each. In fact the vendor ran out of food at the end. I think the big issue is, will there be a good amount of frags. we used some BAR money to buy corals and frag them ourselves for our swap 2 years ago.....maybe you can do that if you had an entrance fee for people with no frags?

The lunch price seems fair, but then again most people probably just want frags they could careless about lunch. I know that while the $6 tri-tip was tasty at the BAR swap it was just a sandwich.

Heh, you actually had time to eat at the last swap? :)

Lunch price isn't a biggie for me. Mainly, I don't like driving, so 2 hours in a car isn't very appealing. Not looking for tons of frags either. More like going just to hang out and support the fellow reefers. Especially since MARS and others come all the way to the East Bay for the BAR swap.

Arnold, yep still interested in carpool. Maybe Charles too. I'll put in for gas money... just didn't want to drive.

And beans :D

True and beans... and yes Norman I didn't have time to eat but I did go down in picking round 82 and picked up my sammich and beans! Luckily for those there I left shortly after consuming the beans :)

ok Guys, I have sent my payment in!

As for the Car Pool I just request that you meet at my house- since I have to drive 2 hours. Norm, maybe I can pick you up at BART? Anyway - confirmed with me is Charles and Norm.....Eileen just confirm with me and we are ok.
