Relocate and scrub clam

I have a single T. Maxima on a rock. I will be up grading and would like to move it to a clam cradle. IIRC I just need to scrape the bismal tread off the rock to get it to release.

While I have it off and out the tank the shell needs to be cleaned of bubble algae and aiptasia. Would it be safe to get after it with a very stiff brush?

The clam has been with me for almost two years and I really do not want to hurt it.

Brush away. The clam will closeup when u handle him. Dont brush the foot. Use tank water to rinse it off.

sometimes you can coax them to release from the rock by pointing a powerhead at their base. if you can remove the rock, packing ice around their byssus is also helpful in getting them to release.

otherwise, yes, cut the threads as you mentioned. just be careful not to cut the actual byssal gland, and use a new, sharp razor.
