reminder... clean your pumps once in a while!

I noticed my return flow in my reef tank was down to next to nothing, so i took my pump (an Iwaki) apart to see whats up. Well, i had a massive amount of calcification all over, and i had debris blocking half the centrifuge pump veins. I cleared the debris and gave the pump a 30 sec soak in muriatic acid, and its good as new! shiny plastic again! I hooked it up and the difference was severe, I have chunks of build-up from inside the pipes blowing all over the place... think I had a 80-90% impairment from all the crap in my pump.

So, this is just a reminder to clean out your pumps once in a while, you don't always think of them but they may just need it!

now that you say this i did think my return was running a little slower than normal...ill have to look into that

Hey Jus your mag hasn't been installed for too long so you should be good for some time. Also you don't really dose anything, including Kalkwasser that is what will cause the pump to have some calcification inside.
