Remora or Bak Pak on 25 gallon?

I have a Bak Pak on right now.Is the Remora worth the $ to replace the Bak Pak?

is the bak pak working? i've heard they're not good on stuff that they're SUPPOSED to be rated for...but they're good skimmers on smaller tanks like yours. If its doin good, i'd just leaving>

the remora when moded with the napkin in chamber, is near quiet. This alone justifies purchasing it over the BakPak HOB. As for efficiency, I could only get my BakPak to work well if I added a limewood airstone to the bottom of unit. Have read that if you upgrade the pump to something stronger and or mod/insert a needle wheel impeller (see RC posts on this -- using fishing line), it will produce much better results, however, I was only using the stock Rios. As for looks, if you can see the HOB from the room, the remora is a much better look in my oppinion.

The Remora is an excellent skimmer, however on that small of a tank the BakPak is more than efficient.
It is definitely not worth the upgrade until you go to a 40gal or larger.

ya i agree q/what ed said for sure. I love my remora to DEATH, but if the bak pak is workin perfectly fine right now...jsut keep that.

however, if you ever plan on getting a bigger tank later on, like a 40 or 55 or so...then i'd suggest getting the remora now while you've got the money. Just keep the bak pak. That way when the time comes to start buying stuff for your 55 or 40 or so...you dont gotta worry about that cost. Just a thought

I have a bakpak right now. Wish that I would have bought a Remora intead.

I am using the lime wood airstone in the bakpak right now. This makes it produce WAY more bubbles. I also have recently put the bakpak INTO my sump. I got this idea from a LFS.

I think that the remora is the way to go, but before you buy one, maybe try the airstone idea. Good luck getting the airstone into the chamber though. It was a PAIN!!!
