Did you try to drill a couple of holes on the verry top of your cap. so some of the bubbles on the foam head can escape and collabse.

Not sure I follow you on that. The wingnut causes a lot of them to collapse and go down the sides of the cap into the cup.

Matt i want to say you have a great Idea, and I'm going to try it as soon as I find a cap to put in, thanks for sharing :beer:

Thanks Mike. It's an interesting experiment. I am not sure if it's actually an improvement or not although the skimmate is definitely darker, there is less of it as mentioned earlier.

i actually added this splatter cap a while ago, but i used the outer covering of a roll of teflon tape..it fits right over the riser tube and i just superglued it on...no wingnut but still works great...

I made a splatter cap as well but I used a medicine bottle cover. I cut slits in the cap and bent it outwards. The cap is still 1/4" above the lift tube. I did it this way so the foam had something to touch and pull it away from the center of the tube. The slits help guide the foam down and out. The main reason I made the slits on it because the cap was only slightly larger than the riser tube. It works great!
