I purchased the surface skimmer prefilter box for my Aqua C Remora Pro and hooked it up last night. I didn't quite understand how to hook it up to the skimmer at first. The only attachment it has is 3 screws on the left front side which I am assuming is suppose to press against the Mag pump to hold it in place. Well it doesn't. I connected it, watched it for a few minutes and all was well and the box was pulling the slime from the top of the water and sending that to the skimmer. I walked away and went into the other room. Five minutes later I hear a waterfall happening in my living room and come running. The skimmer box had ripped the mag pump off the intake arm going into the skimmer, but the power cord to the pump help the pump at the top of the water not letting it sink to the bottom of the tank. Therefore the pump was sucking in water and shooting it straight up into the air and out onto the back wall of my living room. About 4 gallons had gone airborne and onto my wall and floor before I unplugged the skimmer.
How does everyone have this prefilter box attached to the Remora? I have tried several times but cannot get it to stay in place with only those 3 builtin screws. I have read good reviews about this box and the Remora skimmers, but it's too cheaply built IMO for the money I paid for it. Is there a mod for this skimmer or am I missing something completely?!?
