remora vs. coralife super skimmer

I have a 40 gallon tank and want to convert it to a frag tank. I put it next to a window so it'll get the late afternoon direct sunlight. So far it hasn't hit 81 yet. I want to know which skimmer is good for that size tank. Remora or coralife super skimmer?

Also, it's going to get some good algae growth and I already have a bicolor blenny in there, but it's overwelling him. I wanted to put a kole tang in there. You guys think this would be ok as far as inhabitants for a frag tank?

Also, it has a 2" deep sand bed of argonite. You think I should remove it as well as some live rock that I have in there? What are the perks or downfall for having it?

Question 4 - ha you guys must think this is hilarious now. since it's getting a good 2 hours of direct sunlight, would you think I need to supplement lighting?

I have a 40 gallon tank, BB with a Super Skimmer 65.

Stats:
All Glass 40 with Cherry Trim.
Single 150W Supod HQI
Coralife Super Skimmer 65/needlewheel
Seio 1100, Maxijet 9 and 6

I've had both remora and remora pros before with different pumps, but for the space, I decided to use the SS.

This is how the skimmer looks like at 2 days.

wow, that's impressive. so the footprint of the ss is smaller than the remora? Did the remoras pull out as much as the ss?

a remora will never pull out as much as a CSS.
i have both btw. currently my Remora is on my 24 gallon, as 24 gallons is too small for the CSS i feel. (too sensitive) i believe your 40 gallon will be perfect for the CSS.

Ive had both too, I "overwelmingly" vote CSS. Much more skimmate, and much quieter too. (plus a bonus... they're 1/2 the price)

good luck, Mike:D

Well I hate to break the trend but I have also had both and would reccomend the Remora. IME it worked better. Smaller, better looking and less hardware in the tank. IMO neither one is quiet.

sorry to hijack the thread, but is the css an insump skimmer, or does it have to sit outside the sump?

css is hob. anyone else have any suggestions about have sand in a frag tank? i know some benefits, but can the negatives be higher?

css can be both in sump and hob.
sand in a frag tank, i would be against it. the hassle of dealing with possible sand being blown over tiny frags is not worth it.
