Remote access.... Dumb Question!

Ok, Dumb Question!

I think I have everything set up (Static IP, Port forwarding, the whole bit) to access my controller both locally and remote.

My question is where do I go to access it remotely? Is there a website? Or do I just type in the IP?

thanks, I might be completely lost!

Just type in the IP address. If you are using the standard port (port 80), you don't need to type an alternate port. If you configured port forwarding so that a different external (WAN port) is routed to your internal port 80 for your controller, then you need to add that if you are trying to access it from outside your local area network (LAN).

Example:

External access:

Type the following into an internet browser (like Internet Explorer) and hit return. The IP address below is just an example.....you need to use your fixed IP from your ISP.

209.32.23.29 (if you didn't change the port in your port forwarding scheme).

209.32.23.29:356 (If you want to use a different port other than the standard port 80 for external access. The :356 is the alternate port. You need to put the alternate port number in place of my example port of 356).

I configure my Apex controller so that it uses a different port than the standard port 80 because too many items in my house use that standard port. This prevents conflicts between the devices that have web servers that are on the same LAN.

Got it! Its the name I created on DynDns! I can log in using my Iphone in 3g so I guess it is working.

What IP address do I use for AquaNotes? And is it the same if im on my WiFi network or 3G?

And finally.... I have my email and text set up and I am getting a email and text every 30 minutes... for no reason. how do I stop this for now as nothing is set up but the network!!??

Thanks!

Congrats on getting it to work.

I don't use Aquanotes any more for the PC. Unless you are talking about the iphone app. If you are talking about the iPhone app, just use the same URL that you got from DynDNS.

Got it! Works like a charm!! Thanks

This Forum is so helpful and Alan D. Jones is the MAN thank for the user guide! now I just have to get creative with the programing :)
