Remote Ballast Applications

Hi,

I'm looking for a controller for my system and love the features that I see in your product.

My question is I have my ballasts approx 50' from my tank in the attic of my home. is there any extension that would reach that far? If so, would it be cost prohibitive?

Thanks for your help! Like to buy in before Friday :). Your reply is appreciated

I have a Photon fixture so that would entail using 5 extension cords totaling 50' feet each. ATM the fixtures cords run through the ceiling into the attic. This would have to be a remote power strip application with an extremely long control cord for a powerstrip upstairs.

If this isnt possible I understand. Ideally I would have one strip at the tank for water parameter control and one strip upstairs for light control.

My tank if that helps........

Yes - now I understand!
You are talking about the control line between powerbar and ProfiLux. I think 12m are no problem.

Are there any ProfiLux users having experience with long cables between powerbar and ProfiLux?

as the distributors we bring in from GHL 5 meter cables but i will find out if a longer one could be made.

But two 5 meter extenders and also employing the lead that comes as standard would give you 13 meters

You would require 2 x VSL-5

hmm I still thing it would be easier run a Hi-Amp on a extention to the ballast in the atic...

How many plugs do you have for the ballast? i'm asking becaous you might have to getmultiple Hi-Amp powerbar...

Meh, that's negotiable for me especially in the event it saves me money :).

So its 4x39w T5 and 4 250 watt Icecap custom halide ballasts. Expensive fixture :p.

Yes I can see where your coming from!

best you can do is put the ice caps on one high amp with a mulit socket extender and put the T5's on the other.

The total load is about 11 amps so you could put it all on one ring main socket, but I would seperate between two though for real safety. i would have the sockets fusable to 13amps though
