Remote Refugium

Has anyone setup an remote 'fuge? Basically a powerhead that pumps water from my sump to a small tank or container and then back to my sump...

I have a sump but it's too small for a fuge. What I've done is setup a little food-safe tupperware tray in one of my chambers with some live sand and chaeto as a makeshift fuge but I really don't think it's doing too much. I just don't have the cabinet space or sump space to do a proper one.

Other options are a HOB 'fuge....

use a pump to get the water to the fuge and gravity to get it back. Don't try the 2 pump thing or it will fail...

I have my drain line split to the sump and fuge then gravity from the fuge to the sump. It works very well...

I have a 65G fuge that is fed off a T from my return pump. It drains back to the return section of the 75G sump.

I run a refugium that is fed from a Maxijet 1200. The 1200 is in the main tank, the return to my sump from the fuge is an overflow system. It has worked well for three years. I also have float switches in my refugium, main tank and sump. Should anything get out of whack the float switches will shut the pumps down.
