Removing and transporting coral

My tank is becoming overrun by Kenya trees, so I'm going to take a bunch out and give them to someone who lives a few hrs away.
First off, is it ok to just pull them off the rocks they're attached to?

Second, will they be ok in a small container without a heater for like 2 hours?
Thanks guys,
-Matt

they will be fine in the transport. when you cut them off the rock the little bit that is left will most likely regrow into a new coral

Yup, they should be fine :) I once bought a kenya tree and a leather in omaha, and they were absolutely fine for the 6 hour drive back to cedar falls, plus a stop for dinner!

Thanks guys. Also if i just pull on them will they not grow back? I have too many and don't want them to grow back haha

You could probably just toss them in an envelope and mail them.....

Not really, but kenya tree's are difficult to kill. I think everyone that has ever put one in their tank has the same problem after a while - way too many kenya trees.

Thanks guys. Also if i just pull on them will they not grow back?

It seems like Kenya Trees can grow back from almost any residue left. You need to peel them off the rock or frag a chunk of rock with them to be sure. They're not hard to get off the rock in one piece with patience. Of course, it's a lot easier if you can pull the rock from the water. :)

Hard to kill kenya. 2 hours is nothing for these corals. You def need to make sure you get all pieces of th kenya removed from the tank.
