Removing aquapod 12gal canopy

Does anyone know how to remove the canopy from the aquapod 12g? I have looked at it and there is no grooves or notches that I can see to remove the darn thing. It looks to be a completely enclosed hinge. I want to do some mods and would like to remove it . Any ideas would help.

It can be done rather easily. While opening the canopy you need to give a little (and I mean little) tug upwards and it will come right off. I have had no problem taking mine off. Like I said, don't tug too hard or you will break it.

Are ther clips attached to the edge because mine looks like its one complete piece attached to the trim around the top edge. But I will try to pull up on it.

I still can not get the darn thing off I 've tried pulling it up but it just doesn come off. Is the piece attached to the entire trim or are they seperate pieces? If I cant' get it off I will dremel a piece of the hinge so i can slide it off.

Open the top about a third of the way then lift up. It will come off. Just takes a little practice.

I broke mine trying to get it off. Figured it didnt matter since I was getting the clip on Viper light.... too bad that thing keeps breaking now.

I give up I don't know if its my tank alone but the canopy is not coming off. I want to do some mods to it badly but I really think the hinges are one large piece hopefully I can dremel it so it still looks decent.

I am going to dremel the hinges today if I cut smal enough slots to slide the canopy off I should still be able to use the hinges to guide the canopy to open and close. Wish me luck.

While you open it....do this slowly, lift up and it will come off. There is a flat spot on the hinge and that is where it needs to be in order to be removed.

There just isnt a slot for it to slide out. The hinge is a complete U over the canopy hinge. I think dremmeling it is the best way to go I don't want to break the darn thing.

Isn't it true the old ones didn't come off at all while the newer models are easiliy removable?

I do believe that is true. Mine was made on 01/2006. I stopped by my lfs and looked a a display they had and the hing is totally different. It actually had a slot to remove the canopy. I saw where the slot is located and will try to dremel in the same location.
