If it is attached with blobs of silicone you want one of those long flat knives. Push it down between the glass and the background and break away the silicone from the glass. The problem is this will most likely leave residue on the glass that is very hard to remove. You can try nail polish remover and a razor blade but there is no garentee it will all come off. I had the same problem with my tank, I ended up getting a long piece of black Acrylic and attaching it to the inside of my tank.
