Removing Center Brace

Has anyone ever removed the center brace from a standard 55 gallon? I have read a couple post saying the aquarium bowed out in the front but this was for larger aquarium.

My 55 bowed out when mine broke. Its now used as a reptile tank

How thick is the glass? I don't think I would.

Definitely leave the center brace. Or you can look into replacing it with acrylic, but I'd just leave it.

If your tank has a center brace, you can safely assume the designers put it there for a very good reason.

I'd keep the center brace. It's ugly, but better to be safe than sorry.

The center brace can be replaced with acrylic or a stainless steel rod. However, cutting it out altogether will most certainly end in disaster. If you do cut it, make sure the tank is empty.
