I have just bought a fuzzy bird nest that is attached to a plastic plug, how do I remove the coral from the plug?
I tried to gently pull it off but........ nothing, it's really encrusted.

Is it encrusted or is it just the glue holding it on? Is the flesh of the coral actually growing out over the acrylic plug? If it is just glue I usually just use a fresh sharp razor blade to separate the glue from the plug.
I've always just broken the frag off plugs I don't think a Dremel is necessary. After u brake frag off put the plug on a frag rack and anything still encrusted should grow into a new colony.

Another suggestion that may help, let the coral get used to your aquarium for a week or two before breaking it off and further stressing it. It may be unnecessary, but it could help.
I've always just popped them off by hand as well. Generally I find, especially on the plastic plugs, they will come off with a little force. If the coral does break, then growing a new colony on the plug is a good choice.
