whats best way of removing star polyps? i know you can peel off but is hard to remove from rocks. any ideas. or is peeling about the only way
thanks

I've had some luck by pressing hard on them with my fingers, but have been more successful by placing other rocks on top of them for a few weeks. Then the matting was easier to peel off.

if you don't get them all off they will come back ,,,believe me..lol.......i just scape and peel off as much as i can every couple of weeks or two..just to keep them in check.......

Can u remove the rock that is covered with gsp and let it dry outside in the sun.
It will reseed when placing it back into ur display. providing there is more lr in ur display.

if you peel it off of the rock or wherever it is on can you superglue it to a plug and keep it growing? or does it die after peeled?

It will grow. Thats how you frag the stuff. Wherever you put it make sure it is kept in check because it will spread.

i have kept mine in check by using kalk paste, joes juice or aiptasia X in the past. it kills them off rather quickly. but you can not use too much at once as it would affect your system. if you can manualy remove thats the best method. then what ever comes back use the method i mentioned to kill the small areas.

good luck

The only success I have had is with peeling off the mat and then chisling the rock surface. If anything is left it grows back.

Pull rock - use wire brush. It's the only physical means I've found that is close to 100% success.

Fresh water dip. GSP can't tolerate fresh water, and a 10minute dip will usually kill it. However, this will trash coraline and anything desireable on the rock, but it won't affect biological filtering.

Chunks of living GSP can be rubber banded to other rocks to grow it out. I sell it to friends this way.

Removing the rock is the best thing that has worked so far for me. I've even gone so far as to burn them off with a butane torch and they still came back.

If you cover it with something and keep it from getting light and flow it will die.
I used a black hefty bag to cover it with and placed a rock on top to hold it down.
It takes a while but it will work.
