Removing paint from glass

I am looking to take the background paint off of a tank. I am afraid to scratch the tank if I use a razor blade. Anyone ever used a heat gun to soften the paint for easier removal? I tested the heat gun on a scrap piece of tank glass and the heat didnt shatter it. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Spray it with water and scrape it off with a razor blade . I've literally done this a million times lol

If you are super worried use a stainless steel razor blade, much less likely to cut the glass (its what window tinters use). Your typical cheap blades have carbon in them that will scratch the glass. If you keep the blade in a motion perpendicular to the blade you should be fine.

You should go ahead and use a razor blade to get some practice. its the most efficient and safest way to remove coraline buildup on the inside glass over the years.. I use razor blade inside my tank every other week no scratches..

Also if you scratch the glass, you're just going to re-paint over it anyway

That would normally be true but not in this case. I made a huge scratch in the front of the tank when I broke it down and the back that is having the paint removed is going to be the front now. I used the razor blade method and got it off without a scratch. Thanks for all the advice.
