Replacement foam for ER skimmer riser?

Does anyone know where I can get the replacement foam that goes over the riser tube on my ER skimmer? Mine is getting pretty clogged from Ca buildup. Thanks.

I would just rinse it out. That is what I do to mine. Or you can call ER and see where you can buy it. They may even sell it to you direct. Hey Kenny are you going to the swap on saturday, I wanted to know if you still have the cool looking cap that is lime green or neon green. Let me know i've been looking for one for a while

Mario,

I've tried rinsing it out many times, but it's getting worst with time. Stuff would come out but it's never the same.

I can't make it to the swap. My bro and his family is in town and I haven't seen him in a long time. That cap you were interested in RTNed on my several months back :mad2: Now it's just a shelf for holding my frags :( Sorry dude.

Time for a gate valve mod :)

Yeah, I've been thinking about that, just too lazy to do anything about it :D

Kenny,
you HAVE to do this! Purchasing the gate valve is the BEST thing I've ever done for my Euroreef! I bought mine at marine depot just last week...I wish I had done it along time ago:

It's well worth the $40 price...Trust me on this one!
:)

Mannn, I was so sick-and-tired of getting my hands wet everytime I wanted to adjust that darn riser pipe (squish, squish).....and half the time having the stupid thing pull out in my hand :mad2:

Now:
just a simple DRY turn of the knob....ever so slightly.....

SWEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!!!
:D

Haha........maybe when I start my own daycare, then...........

Seriously, you run a daycare? Out of your home? :eek2:

Some pix of the gate valve mod on my ER CS6-1. Took about 10 minutes to cut and assemble the various pieces. Man, this thing works like a champ. Why didn't I do this earlier? It's so easy to dial in the foam level.

Chopped down the riser tube to the right height for the gate valve

Everything assembled and the final product

this looks pretty easy to DIY but where is the last piece of longer PVC? Just comparing the parts with the final pic and don't see the last longer pvc pipe.

I didn't use the third piece, just cut down the piece that was already there. I could have taken it out, but it was stuck in there pretty good so I decided not to remove it.

yup 12 little ones every day...:D

shhhhh nap time:p

Oh...I hope you checked the water level in your sump before deciding the height of the gate valve. To avoid getting the gate valve wet( because there's a metal screw holding the twist knob in place), I kept it out of water's reach by keeping it mounted on the horizontal bend of the discharge pipe (at the T piece)

Hmmmm......good point. I'll check it when I get home tonight. I may have to raise the whole skimmer since I can't position the gate valve at the location you referenced due to small sump space. Thanks.
