Replacing base unit

Any tips on what I'll need to do to swap out my Apex base unit with a new one? Other than transferring cables and such, downloading the current firmware and uploading my current program, will it just recognize my modules and get the same IP address?

You need to save your program and configurations first.
It may or may not get the same IP address if you have it set to DHCP. Write it down first because you may have to manually enter it in order to get the web pages running and restore your program.
It may not recognize your modules with the same numbers since it's a new base unit and they will be looking for the old one. If you have multiple EB8's, plug in the lowest numbered one first, then the next and so on. If you have other modules, plug them in in the same order as their module ID, one at a time. Hopefully they'll all come up numbered properly.

I just realized there's a lot of 'maybe' in there Larry!

This appears to be turning into a nightmare.

I swapped out all the cables, found the new apex by http://Apex, uploaded the configurations and...

The status page shows all my outlets as expected and the module page appears to show all the modules, but had two display modules (I only have one).

The problem is it appears most or all of the outlets are not doing what the status page indicates they are and the few I tested manually have no affect on the intended outlet. I have 5 EB8 which is a lot of outlets, so there's no practical way to find out what outlet on the status page controls which outlet on the EB8s!!

I unplugged all the EB8s and added back the first, then the others. No difference?

Any suggestions? I need to ensure nothing important turns off in the middle of the night!

Larry - sounds like they got added but their order is wrong. You have the right number of EB8 but 3 is 5, etc. You can try to initialize the bus memory and see if they re-add correctly. You will need to save/restore your program again. What I would do is plug a lamp into outlet #1 of one of the EB's then try to manually turn outlet #1 on/off of each bar. One of them will be the right one. Then you'll know which one became 3, which one became 5, etc.

If that doesn't work, Neptune can telnet in and manually re-order the EB8s.

Thanks. I have them sorted out as to which one should be which, and of course they are all wrong. Is it possible to reorder them myself or does Curt have to Telnet in to do it.

OK, initializing the memory really made things worse. It initialized, but now I cannot connect to it as either "apex" or through the previous IP address.

OK, never mind on the "can't get in". After 4 tries and timeouts, it suddenly let me in as "Apex". A few subsequent timeouts and it's back to the disordered EB8s.
