replacing front pane on a tank

Has anyone here ever replaced the front pane of a tank becuase of scratches, etc. For a 180 is it cost effective?

Maybe turning a regular tank into a Starfire

I work with glass everyday. I replaced the bottom of a 180G once. It held for about a year and began leaking. I will never try to repair a large tank again.
