Requesting some help, calling nano reefers (interested in Fluval Edge Reefers.)

So I have currently started running a Oceanic Biocube 14 gallon. I have started cycling it, and it only has live rock, and sand in it at the moment. I'm in an apartment, and really love the concept of a small reef aquarium, but I'd like to switch my Biocube out with something else.

Now what, you might ask? I didn't even start thinking about it until A. I realized that no matter where I put my Biocube in my apartment, I can only open my lid halfway (and that's a huge pain for me.) B. I saw what some of you are doing with the Fluval Edge.

I'd like to switch to something with an open top, but I'm really unclear about the lighting situation (best way, most cost effective) and if it happens to be an edge, how to mod the lights, etc. I'd be willing to do a 20 gallon long as well, but again, not sure about the lighting. Any experienced reefers want to give me some tips on the "right" road to start heading down?

have you looked into the Innovative Marine Nuvo 16? Reef ready unlike the Edge. I had originally orderd the Fluval Edge and it arrived broken. So while waiting on a refund I looked into the Nuvo 16 and found it to be a better overall package for my needs.

Let me know if you have any questions about it..

I have had my fluval edge up and running for about two and a half years now. I love it!!!

I've had everything from the stock set up to power compacts to LED's for lighting and stock filter to canister filter to a now 2.5 gallon sump and 30 gallon skimmer on the darn thing :)

Lighting was the worst part for me at first but I now have 2 12" current usa led strips 12k and actinic and I can grow just about anything in it now. As for filters the stock one jammed up on me about a year into it and I got a zoomed 30 gallon turtle canister filter for it. Which worked great except I hated cleaning the darn thing. So I started researching how to put a sump on it. Which wasn't to bad once I figured out how to do an external overflow box.

All in all I love the tank and the look down view is perfect for a mini reef tank. I haven't updated my build thread since the led lights but this gives you a good example I guess.

I really like the Nuvo 16, but for what I'm looking at right now, the Fluval Edge seemed like the best way to go, at least for the moment. I went down to Petco and bought one today, brought it home, and the glass was cracked. Went back, returned it, came home from dinner with friends and family, and opened up the new one. Low and behold, the lighting system is completely different. It's not an LED bar like my other one was.... anybody know the difference?

The older model used two MP10 light bulbs which suck, the newer ones use a cheap cruddy built in LED bar which won't grow anything but macro and freshwater plants.

So you upgraded your lights? Does it matter which one I get in order to do the same thing?
