Hey all,

I am writing a research paper on the deteriaration(sp?) of reefs throughout the world.

Does anyone have any books, websites, articles, that they would suggest as great sources for this?

Thanks in advance!!

Chris

I'm not too sure of any specific sites or books or anything, but I have read a lot about natural disasters (hurricanes) also being a big killer or reefs. So that could be interesting to look into as well. Especially since people are linking the rise in the severity of weather to global warming.

Great organization that's working to save as much of the reefs worldwide as they can. Check out the website, they have a lot of great information about coral reef threats and solutions.

I'm sure there's probably tons and tons of scientific information out there in journals and whatnot. But from I've read it's really many factors contributing to the depletiong of reefs worldwide. It's not just global warming, or over fishing or whatever. Its' a combination of many things.

I bought an IMAX film called "coral adventure" that was released in 2003. It's a great film about reefs and touches on reef depletion as well. It's probably not somethign you're interested in using for a research paper, but I really enjoyed watching it.

I use search.ebscohost.com for my research here at school. There are many different sections of this site that deal with differing issues (theology, animals, blah blah blah). Check it out and good luck. Let me know if you run across medicinal uses of corals since I am conducting research at Creighton on this subject.
