Restaining my stand

Has anyone restained or repainted thier stand without problems with fumes affecting the tank. My stand could use a new coat of varnish and I was wondering if it was okay or if there was any suggestions on how to do it. There is no sump inside the stand so I wouldnt think it would be too much of a big deal. TIA.

I would just make sure you have good ventilation, it should be ok, as long as you use a non petroleum based stain/varnish

I do plan to have some fans blowing out the window. I also plan on doing it in small sections at a time. Thanks Murph!

I have staind my old stand with no adverse affects.
I also did my hard wood floors with a poly. finsh with no adverse affects.

Just do a large water change when it is dry.

A water-based urethane should work.
