Restarting an old 280 build

Well progress is going to be even more boring then what I have already posted lol it's just mudding and painting.

After that I will get some backer board on the floor. I think I am going to go with an epoxy floor.

I updated the drawing of the proposed flow, it should be something like this:

The tank and sump (lower sump below the tank stand) are below the filtration shed. I will need a booster pump to get the water all the way up to those Rubbermaid tanks. It will be located next to the upper sump (shown in the layout).

Got the sheetrock up in the ceiling hope to get the rest up this weekend. Once I get that taped and painted, it will be time to figure out what I plan to do with the floor. Once that's done I get to finally start putting things in there.

That will feel pretty good. Still a ton of work ahead, but getting this shed done will be a huge step.

I put the diffusers in the light tunnels, gets them out of my way while I figure out if it is best to just go with the clear glass.

Yes those outlets you see in the ceiling are for lighting. I really don't know how much the tubs will help, and as I said earlier I think they will be completely ineffective in the winter. They do at least bring a lot of light throughout the day and it has made it a lot easier to work in there. But how much they help grow algae? Not sure. I bet in the summer it will be crazy.

The one real benefit so far about this build taking so long is it has helped spread the cost of my craziness out over several years. "So I got that going for me. Which is nice."

My contractor included them in the shed build, and that was a few years ago. But the exact same ones can be purchased at Home Depot.

Cool, I would not have bothered to look those up if you hadn't asked so it's awesome to read the reviews. I have to agree with all of them. these do put out a lot of light.

Yes, the output is enormous and I am trying to figure out how to put them over my tank in my basement!

If it's near a south facing wall I could see you putting them behind the house, closer to ground level. I guess it depends on if you have access to the basement from an outside wall or not and if that wall faces south(ish). If not I am not sure it would be worth the time/investment.

so not much to see but thought I would update, second coat of mud is on and sanded. I am not going to bother with a third coat. I am satisfied that everything is sealed up and I am ready for painting. It is just a filtration shed after all.

Now the paint. I am thinking maybe going with an exterior paint that has some mildew resistance. If anyone has some input there I would appreciate it. flat white I understand has the best light reflective value. So I think I will go with that for color.

So had some extra time today and finished the painting.

Bright white is very bright

I will start on the flooring next, finish the wiring and the real fun can start.

I put the backer board in today. My back is killing me from all of the dang screws.

the floor to the shed is built to hold a ton of weight (well several tons to be more precise). 12x2 stringers 12" apart so lots of screws to hold that backer board down

Epoxy is in I'll put the vinyl baseboard on in a couple of days and then I can start putting some stuff in there.

Floor looks pretty good today after it dried, but I think I am going to go ahead and clear coat it.

Not much done today, put in the light fixture and light switch, heater and thermostat. went to wire the receptacles and I picked up 15 amp and needed 20 amp bummer :headwally: I will take those back and exchange them for the right ones tomorrow.

I had the choice of one of two jobs to try and get done today, clear coat the floor or finish the wiring. I chose wrong.

Today was a pretty good day. Except for the vinyl baseboard the shed is done. The real work starts this weekend when I clear out the area that the tank will be in and start tearing into the wall. Of course I need to put something in that shed first

That is going to be a ton of fun! So here is where we are in the build.

The clear coat is on. It will look better once I get that baseboard on.

Light fixture is in and ceiling outlets wired and working.

Heater and thermostat wired and working (no shot of the thermostat it's behind the door and the clear coat is drying).

Rubbermaid scaffold is up and an 8'x4' chunk of plywood in place. I am a couple feet short so I will have to piece that in.

Well checked that floor at lunch, went a little thick on that clear coat it's dry to the touch but still a little too soft to put anything heavy on or really even walk on too much. So I'll tackle that fishroom tonight and save the baseboard for another day.
