Can I use city water to fill my tank and treat it effectively so that i can add salt and get started without buying new water? If so, where can i find the "HOW TO DO" list on this?

Why not buy an RO/DI unit? In the long run you'll save time and money.

I have one but its not currently hooked up and i was just looking to get water in it quicker. im gonna be dependent on supplied water for a little while

You will suffer from much larger algae blooms, but if you are ok with that then sure. Seems like a no brainer though to just buy RODI water though.

yeah, basically this was just for a second opinion. i have the local guy coming to set me up with water next week. just was trying to save a few bucks thanks yall
