restarting my tanks

Hey all

Im finally getting around to getting my tanks going again.

Both have been sitting with water and rock in them with no pumps running for around 4 months.

Algea growth is present in growth tanks, both nuisance and coraline. And i did find two hermits still alive in the 45 gallon, Im convinced they are the cockroaches of the marine world.

Anyway, i was just going to see if i needed to drain and completely clean both tanks, or If i could just drain them and start over with fresh saltwater and let them cycle again.

thanks
Cullen

I would think you'll be fighting with that hair algae for sometime if you don't do a ton of water changes to really clean out that rock..

I forgot to mention that I am baking all the rock in the in the front yard except for 3 pieces that had no bad algae growth and alot of coraline growth.

Im thinking that i wont need to completely clean the tanks out, just rinse with some fresh water.

Im trying to avoid breaking down my setups, the 90gal is a real pain to replumb and move without any help.

I would imagine you would be fine cleaning them in place. The key thing would be to rinse and then rinse again with ro/di water before actually refilling with fresh saltwater.
