Results with D&D H2O salt ?

I'm on my second bucket of this salt now. Measurements have matched what the label claims as to levels, which is quite nice, as I used to have to heavily supplement Mg with my previous salt.

I mix it for a week before use, and have noticed a very minor brown precipitate, but it seems to be benign, and I just clean it out of the mixing station from time to time.

It's been good for my tank. My only real complaint is that it's quite expensive in the US, and it's not carried by any LFS nearby.

I've heard good things about D&D and i'm not debating that, but a few post here they use reef crystals and claim they get algae instantly or that it's not good. I've used Reef Crystals for years and no problems and when i do check my parameters they seem to be good. I can't figure how one person can get good results and another have horrible results. I guess no 2 tanks are exact.
That is a good point. But coming from the other end of it I have been using RC for darn close to 2 years using IO when I would not get RC. My levels always test good, it keeps ca around 420-46, alk always 8-10 mag 1300. But I still dont like the salt. Always mixes clear and fast, I can use it in a few hours. You would think that looking at the levels and all this is a good salt and by the numbers it is. I dont like it though I started using it to save money. Growth has been slow and colors are poor. Pro Reef worked much better for me. I have been hearing great things about DD salt and am thinking about trying it out.

Having used IO and then Reef Crystal exclusively in the past, when I got back into the hobby I researched a fair bit before deciding on the D&D H2Ocean. In the UK it is very cheap £50, Reef Crytals is like £80. It mixes ok, and best of all Ca is good, alk too and mg is fairly good too. I am on my second bucket now.
This is so funny. Reef Crystals and IO are cheap here in the states and some people like it others dont. It think it is ok but not the best. The salts made in Europe are considered to be better and are more $ (Tropic Marin, Tunze, HW, H2Ocean). But in the UK and Europe they seem to like the RC more and they pay more for it. I sometimes wonder if it is all mental? Did I really have better results, color and growth with Pro Reef and HW??

+2. Sometimes i wonder that if we stuck to what we were doing to our tanks would it still have looked better? What i mean is that as more time goes on the tank gets more mature and stable. so is it the change that we did or is it just time that caused the tank to look better? I know when i was chasing colors and such i was constantly changing, not necessarily big changes but changing things none the less, and the tank would look better. Since the last year or so i just got fed up chasing the holy grail and the tank just keep getting better. this is the reason for my thought.

any thought, suggestions, or snyde remarks on this theory?
