so my return plumbing that i did in the tank its made out of pvc, and it is back syphoning, do i need to drill a hole in it, and if i do where abouts would i do that!?

drill it rite by the water level wher it goes back into the tank. I put two small holes in mine and it still back syphons 8inches of water into my sump

how far does it go into the tank. I had a tank where the return went pretty far into the tank. I did have two holes drilled right above the water, ** however I was lucky enough not to have a snail cover the hole when the pump went out. If its being covered by a snail nothing will break the siphon.

This is the reason for 2 holes so if a snail covers one your ok.
NOw if you have 2 snails covering 2 holes you have very bad luck :-)

drill 10 holes if you want too. From my experience, holes drilled rite under the water line are a lot more reliable than a check valve

The riser comes out of the water, makes a 90, then is connected to a piece of lockline or something that reenters the water?

Drill a couple of holes above the water line on the inside corner of the 90, it will always be spraying a bit of water, but will stay clear.

When the pump shuts it sucks air and breaks the siphon.

Ouch Im thinking I should probably drill another hole now in mine especially since my chack valve doesn't even work.. Im planning on replumbing my return soon anyways with one or two antisiphon holes and a new check valve for extra measure
